AMD announces its new technology FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 for the upcoming GDC 2022.
Last year AMD brought an innovative technology, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, to the industry that was a massive hit for the entire AMD history, and now the company is planning to take the legacy ahead with the new next-gen open-source upscaling technology, FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 which is integrated into the game Deathloop. This technology aims at delivering high-quality output with boosted framerates that the entire AMD player base has never seen.
The most interesting fact about the technology is that it doesn’t use any machine learning so users are not required to have any dedicated machine learning hardware to run this technology. However, AMD has shared some deeper insights on how the FSR 2.0 is going to work.
Check the AMD Official Blog.
Furthermore, as per AMD, it would be easier for the Game Developers to integrate the FSR 2.0 into the games that have pre-defined Temporal Upscaling render paths. Along with that just like the FSR 1.0, the new FSR 2.0 is also easier to integrate depending on the use case the time might vary which is nominal seeing the entire development process. In addition to that, FSR 2.0 is licensed under MIT with direct support to Vulkan, DirectX12, and a plugin for the Unreal Engine.
